Running through the Ages: Learn How to Sustain Running Longevity

Boston Marathon Legends, Rick and Dick Hoyt, to Speak at Beverly Hospital’s Event for Runners

At "Running through the Ages" attendees will learn from a Beverly Hospital orthopedic surgeon how to sustain running longevity

BEVERLY, MA (March 20, 2015) - This year, for the first time in 32 years, the father-son duo known as Team Hoyt will be observers instead of participants at the Boston Marathon. Rick and Dick Hoyt will be speaking at the Beverly Hospital event, "Running through the Ages" on April 7 to cover the marathon and the importance of running in their lives. The event will take place at the Danversport Yacht Club from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to speak to other runners," said Dick Hoyt. "I've been running with my son for 37 years now. It doesn't necessarily get easier but I always carry on, without hesitation, because of Rick. It's important that runners recognize and are grateful for whatever it is that keeps them running."

In addition, Dr. Bojan Zoric, a member of Beverly Hospital's Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Department will discuss with attendees how they can maintain good orthopedic health while running - no matter their age.

"With the Marathon right around the corner, running is top of mind for many right now," said Dr. Zoric. "Running can be a great joy and also a great pain for many people. It can be hard on your joints and ligaments and cause irreparable damage if the right precautions aren't taken. At this event, we will address the importance of maintaining good practices and habits so runners can continue to run for many years."

Space is limited. Registration ends April 1, 2015. Attendees must call: 1-888-253-0800 to register.
