At Northeast Health System, we have a continuum of services designed to meet changing health needs for every stage of our lives.

Today we need more than a hospital to meet the varied health needs of our community. While some North Shore residents may choose to receive their care elsewhere from time to time, the vast majority of area residents use the services of their local hospitals, physicians and human service providers for all but the most complex and specialized care. They choose the facilities and services of Northeast Health System for a variety of reasons:

• We are the closest source of high-quality emergency care on the North Shore – fast accessible care that may mean the difference between life and death for area residents.

• We provide excellent medical and surgical treatment in a caring, supportive environment, close to home. In those instances when people require the specialized services found only in Boston, Northeast Health System’s cooperative relationships with the tertiary hospitals in Boston provide smooth access and coordination of care for our patients transferred there.

• We bring accomplished physicians from renowned Boston institutions, Children’s Hospital Boston, Lahey Clinic, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, New England Medical Center, and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary to share their expertise in the care of our patients.

• We coordinate care between disciplines. For example, our behavioral health division staff the emergency departments to screen, and when needed, place patients in a treatment program or hospital. To enhance the effectiveness of long-term care, our nursing homes are located on the campus of the hospital to accommodate the urgent needs of residents.

• We serve the whole community, including vulnerable populations who have little or no health insurance.

Philanthropy is the lifeblood of every successful hospital and healthcare system in this nation. Our hospitals and health services exist today because thoughtful, farsighted North Shore residents took the time to become involved with our organizations.
