Northeast Hospital Corporation (NHC) Beverly and Addison Gilbert
hospitals cancer program is accredited by the American College of
Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a comprehensive cancer care center
that offers state-of-the-art medical and surgical care for
individuals diagnosed with most types of cancer. Our cancer program
collaborates with our tertiary partner, Beth Israel Deaconess
Medical Center (BIDMC). This partnership enhances the cancer care
available to North Shore residents.
The Cancer Service's modern Hematology/Oncology Center, located
on the campus of Beverly Hospital, allows individuals to see their
physicians, have laboratory tests and undergo treatment in a single
location. It is designed to provide convenience, privacy and
immediate access to resources such as pharmacy support and
emergency care.
The physicians in our program participate in the collaborative
team approach to caring for cancer patients, medical oncologists,
surgeons, radiologists, and pathologists, and are board certified
in their specialties.
The organization has a dedicated inpatient oncology unit. The
inpatient unit provides the highest levels of patient safety and
quality, utilizing chemotherapy and supportive therapies by
chemotherapy-certified RNs.
Expansion of Cancer
Service at Addison Gilbert Hospital
To enhance our ability to provide progressive, state-of-the-art
cancer care to residents of Cape Ann, we have expanded Addison
Gilbert Hospital's (AGH) Cancer Service on the Lundberg Medical
Arts Floor, named Gorton's Specialty and Cancer Care Center.
The Center offers expanded treatment capacity for patients
undergoing cancer-related care and provides more access to
specialty services for Cape Ann residents. The Cancer Care portion
of the Center includes private treatment areas, including 10
infusion stations with views of the Annisquam River for patients
receiving chemotherapy treatment. These comfortable, private
stations offer space for family members to accompany patients
during treatment to provide support. Patients also have access to
the latest in clinical trials and protocols through AGH's
affiliation with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The
Specialty Suite portion of the Center houses physician offices,
examination and procedure rooms for patient appointments with
physicians providing care in a wide range of specialties.
This $1.4 million project was funded by charitable donations
from businesses and families on Cape Ann.
