The American Diabetes Association recognizes the Diabetes Care Center as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education.
The Diabetes Care Center offers comprehensive programs for the care of people living with diabetes. If you have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes, Type I or Type II diabetes or gestational diabetes then our Diabetes Care Center can help you in working towards and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Our team of specialists includes certified diabetes educators, registered nurses, registered dieticians, behavioral health specialists and clinical exercise physiologists, all of whom will work with your primary care physician to improve your diabetes management and outcomes. Services include:

Diabetes Care Center
As part of our Lifestyle Management Institute, the Diabetes Care Center offers programs for people living with diabetes. We follow diabetes education guidelines set by the American Diabetes Association. The center is staffed by:
- Behavioral health specialists
- Diabetes educators
- Exercise specialists
- Registered nurses
These specialists support and care for people diagnosed with different types of diabetes, including:
- Gestational diabetes
- Prediabetes
- Type 1 diabetes
- Type 2 diabetes

Diabetes Care Center Programs & Services
We offer a series of nine diabetes education classes at the Diabetes Care Center. You’ll need a referral from your doctor to attend these classes.
Below is the class schedule:
- Beth Israel Lahey Health Care Center–Danvers: Wednesdays, every 4th Thursday, and every other Saturday
- Addison Gilbert Hospital: Every 2nd Tuesday
The Diabetes Specialty Clinic works closely with your primary care provider. We offer personalized instruction to help you get the diabetes care you need. The Diabetes Specialty Clinic is staffed by a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) and registered dietitian.
Seeing a provider at our Diabetes Specialty Clinic requires a referral from your doctor.
We offer a specialized program for pregnant women with gestational diabetes. This includes personalized nutrition and glucose monitoring. A referral from your doctor is needed.
We offer support groups at Addison Gilbert Hospital. These groups provide information about diabetes management. This includes education about meal planning and updates in diabetes care. Support groups meet on the second Monday of each month from 5–6 pm. To register, please call 978-304-8411.
