PEDIATRICS
Overview
Beverly and Addison Gilbert hospitals' family medicine and
pediatric providers care for children of all ages. Through our
community primary care practices, they provide well-child visits,
vaccinations, physicals required for sports participation, and so
on. They also care for children when they are sick, providing
diagnostic and treatment services at the primary care level when
appropriate, and referring children for specialty care when
needed.
Beverly Hospital has a longstanding relationship with Children's
Hospital Boston. Through the Children's Hospital Physicians at
Beverly Hospital Program, Children's physicians are on site at
Beverly Hospital to coordinate both inpatient care and outpatient
specialty services. Specialists in cardiology, gastroenterology,
general surgery, neurology, and pulmonary medicine all conduct
office hours at Beverly Hospital. In addition, Children's
neonatologists, who provide medical care for sick and premature
newborns, staff Beverly Hospital's Level II Special Care Nursery.
Working together, primary care providers and Children's physicians
provide comprehensive care for North Shore children, from newborns
to adolescents.
Among the other services specifically designed to address the
needs of children are:
- Pediatric orthopedic surgery services to diagnose and treat
children with injuries or illnesses that affect the bones, joints
or spine
- The Pediatric Emergency Service in collaboration with
Children's Hospital Boston that provides evaluation, treatment and
stabilization of children with a variety of medical problems, from
acute illness to major emergencies
- Pediatric Ultrasound Program catered to the special physical
and emotional needs of children
Providers at Addison Gilbert Hospital, Beverly Hospital and
Beverly Hospital at Danvers are particularly sensitive to radiation
safety in pediatric imaging, and implement special radiation dose
techniques when scanning children to minimize radiation
exposure.
