Beverly Hospital MRI Services provide the most advanced MRI technology and patient-centered care available today, in three locations right here on the North Shore and in the Merrimack Valley. Our highly qualified and compassionate physicians, technologists and support staff are committed to making the MRI experience convenient and comfortable for all individuals - both children and adults - from start to finish, as well as delivering accurate results to your physician quickly. 

TECHNOLOGICAL EXCELLENCE

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a highly advanced, painless, non-invasive test that creates exceptionally clear images of the internal structures and organs of your body. Beverly Hospital is the first healthcare facility in the area to own and operate the most powerful MRI scanner available for clinical use - a 3.0 Tesla scanner - which gives us optimal diagnostic capabilities. According to our physicians, the images produced by this equipment are so clear, "it's like putting on a pair of glasses for the first time." 

In addition to the 3.0 Tesla unit at Beverly Hospital at Danvers, Beverly Hospital also offers a 1.5 Tesla Scanner on its main campus in Beverly and an open MRI unit at the former North Shore Magnetic Imaging Center now called Beverly Hospital at Prospect Street in Peabody. The type of scanner that best suits your needs depends on several factors. We are able to accommodate the special needs of children and patients who are claustrophobic. We also offer specialized breast imaging services at our Breast Health Center using the state-of-the-art Aurora Breast MRI System. 

OUR PHYSICIANS AND TECHNOLOGISTS

The physicians at our MRI centers are the best in their field. Trained at major metropolitan academic medical centers and board-certified in a variety of radiology sub-specialties, they have chosen to practice here in their own community. Having them on your team ensures that your MRI images will be evaluated with the greatest of care and accuracy. 

Among our physicians' areas of expertise are neuroradiology (head, neck and spine) MRI, musculoskeletal (muscles and bones) MRI, pelvic and abdominal MRI, peripheral (blood vessels of the extremities) MRA, breast MRI, MR venography (veins), and body MRI including cholangiopancreatography (also called MRCP, which creates images of the pancreas and biliary tree). 

Our MRI technologists are also highly trained and exceptionally experienced. They are known in our community for their ability to combine the highest level of skill with an unsurpassed level of patient care. 

COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE

We want you to feel at ease from the moment you or your doctor contacts us for an appointment to the moment you complete your scan and have the images in hand. To this end, our service offers a number of amenities and conveniences. 

SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT AND TAKING A TOUR

To schedule your appointment, you or your doctor can call our toll-free dedicated scheduling number, 866-MRI-0466 (866-674-0466). Our staff will schedule you for the date, time and location that best suit your needs and preferences. If you wish, you can even stop by the reception desk at our newest facility in Danvers to schedule your scan and tour the MRI Center. During scheduling, we will ask if you need any special assistance such as a ride to and from your appointment or an interpreter, and will make arrangements for you as needed. 

To accommodate our patients' busy schedules, we are open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

YOUR EXPERIENCE

We are sensitive to the fact that you may be nervous or anxious about your MRI, and will do our best to make your experience positive. All of our locations have ample free parking close to the entrances and caring, compassionate staff members to guide you every step of the way. 

For example, at the MRI Center at Beverly Hospital at Danvers, you will come in through the building's clearly marked MRI Center entrance and be greeted warmly by our front-desk staff, asked if you would like a beverage, and invited to have a seat in our bright and airy waiting area that features large windows, hardwood floors, a plasma TV and current magazines. One of our technologists will escort you to your private interview area, where you can change into a hospital top, bottoms, and booties to keep your feet warm. If a friend or family member has accompanied you, he/she may stay with you while you get ready for your scan. The technologist will escort you to our very spacious and brightly sunlit scan room, complete with a soothing ceiling mural. 

We offer a number of options to make you comfortable during your scan. You can choose the headphone set that fits best to listen to your own CD or one of ours. You can wear a blindfold or prism glasses to alleviate claustrophobia and create a more relaxed atmosphere. You can even ask your MRI technologist about hypnosis techniques to help you relax. 

A MRI technologist and an aide will take care of you before, during and after your scan. They can see and hear you at all times during the scan and will check frequently to make sure you are okay. A radiologist is on site at all times when intravenous contrast is administered. 

WHEN THE SCAN IS OVER

After your scan is complete, you will change and collect your personal belongings. Before you leave, we will give you a CD of your MRI images (and films if your doctor requests them). We will send a report and montage of your MRI images to your doctor on the next business day.

INSURANCE COVERAGE

Beverly Hospital MRI Center accepts all health insurances. Please check with your insurance carrier for the details of your coverage. 

If you are self-pay or your private insurance does not cover the MRI/MRA scan, you may choose the self-pay procedure. Please call Pam Rosinski at 978.922.3000, ext. 3488 about payment arrangements.
