Safe Steps For Seniors
Concerned about this statistic and seeing a need in the
community, The Center for Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine at
Addison Gilbert Hospital established an innovative program designed
reduce the risk of falls for at-risk seniors. Safe Steps for
Seniors was initially funded by a grant from The Tufts Health
Foundation and Northeast Health Foundations. It now continues as a
fee for service program with classes held twice weekly.
Developed by a physical therapist the program consists of 1 hour
long classes that focus on developing the physical skills necessary
to reduce fall risk such as mobility, balance and
strength.
