Cardiovascular disease claims more women’s lives in the U.S. than all other diseases combined.  Some cardiovascular risk factors are also associated with certain types of breast and ovarian cancer.  Understanding that women’s needs are unique, the Lifestyle Management Institute’s Healthy Living for Today’s Woman program is a risk reduction service, specifically tailored for women with, or at risk for, cardiovascular disease.  Through education, individual and group support, as well as onsite exercise, this program provides coordinated, comprehensive services to address risk factors or diagnoses which include:

  • Diabetes
  • High Blood Cholesterol
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Obesity
  • Osteopenia
  • Osteoporosis
  • Smoking

Our interdisciplinary team of professionals includes specialist physicians who are board certified in their areas of practice, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, pharmacists, dieticians, clinical exercise physiologists, physical therapists, and behavioral health specialists.  The Healthy Living for Today’s Woman team will provide participants in the program a comprehensive evaluation which will include:

  • Nurse Practitioner Assessment
  • Pharmacist Counseling
  • Development of a Risk Reduction / Lifestyle Modification Plan
  • Nutrition Counseling, as indicated
  • Behavioral Health Counseling, as indicated.

Enrolled participants in the Healthy Living for Today’s Woman program also have available to them:

  • Therapeutic Active Resistive Exercise, tailored for women’s cardiovascular and bone health
  • Educational classes specific to women’s health and disease management
  • Breast and Ovarian Cancer support group, led by a Certified Breast Health Navigator Nurse Practitioner
  • Complementary Therapies such as Reiki, Yoga, Hypnotherapy, and Smoking Cessation
