Unique Screening and Diagnostic Capabilities

Breast Health Center patients have access to the most advanced technology for the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease, including digital mammography and Aurora Breast MRI technology.

 

With digital mammography technology, the radiologist can zoom in, magnify and optimize different parts of the breast tissue.  Digital mammography has been proven to be superior at detecting breast cancer in pre-menopausal women and women with dense breast tissue.  Coupled with digital mammography is the Aurora Breast MRI technology.  Breast MRI is able to determine the extent of newly diagnosed breast cancer as well as determine the response to treatment.  Breast MRI is ideal for women with high risk and women with symptomatic silicone implants.  If you are interested in knowing more about Aurora Breast MRI at Beverly Hospital or if you have been referred for a breast MRI, click here for expanded information and a brochure you can download to answer questions about your upcoming exam.

 

Northeast Health System mammography facilities possess a valid license and certificate of inspection issued by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

 

Professional Team
Our highly qualified breast care team includes board-certified physicians in radiology, surgery, pathology, and medical, surgical and radiation oncology, as well as a dedicated nurse practitioner, technologists, nurses, a Breast Health Navigator and behavioral health specialists.  These accomplished medical professionals work with women and their families to achieve positive outcomes.  Together, we provide holistic care that meets our patients' physical and emotional needs in the most technically advanced, yet warm and compassionate manner.

 

State-of-the-Art Treatment Planning

At the Breast Health Center, women who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer or those who want a second opinion can participate in our distinctive program that brings breast specialists together in a single session to recommend the best plan of care.  Through our Multidisciplinary Physician Case Conference with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a patient meets with a surgeon, medical oncologist and radiation oncologist on the same day.  After individually evaluating the patient, these specialists meet as a group with our radiologist and pathologist to review test results, share their opinions based on their specific areas of expertise to develop the most appropriate course of action.  At the end of the session, the patient is presented with a cohesive treatment plan. 

 

All breast cancer treatment modalities are coordinated through the Beverly Hospital Breast Health Center including lumpectomy, mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, reconstructive surgery, and individual, group and family counseling.

 

 

Insurance Coverage

Major health insurance companies cover Breast Health Center services.  Check with your insurance carrier to ensure eligibility for reimbursement.

The Breast Health Center at Beverly Hospital at Danvers is the primary breast health facility of Northeast Hospitals.  For the convenience of the North Shore community, some of our breast health services are also available at our Addison Gilbert Hospital and Beverly Hospital campuses.

 

The American Cancer Society recommends:  

• A monthly breast self-examination for women over age 20
• A clinical breast examination by a healthcare professional every three years for women between ages 20 and 39
• A clinical breast examination by a healthcare professional every year for women over age 40
• A yearly screening mammogram for all women over age 40 or as indicated
