Inpatient Occupational Therapy

Our inpatient Occupational Therapy (OT) staff helps patients achieve their previous level of independence for activities of daily living (ADL’s). Occupational therapists are experts in developing compensatory strategies to maximize one’s functional abilities in the presence of functional limitations or disability through the use of adaptive equipment and/or splinting. The occupational therapy program’s primary focus is on restoring range of motion, strength and fine motor coordination of the upper extremities.

Outpatient Occupational Therapy

Our outpatient Occupational Therapists are specialists in upper extremity rehabilitation, treating patients with conditions such as hand/wrist fractures, tendonitis, nerve injuries or arthritis. In fact, we have four certified hand specialists on staff.

Our occupational therapy staff also offers rehabilitation for a variety of neurological disorders.

Hand Therapy

Certified Hand therapists (CHT) have advanced knowledge in the complex anatomy of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder that is essential to achieving the best outcome following upper extremity injuries.

To qualify as a CHT, Occupational or Physical Therapists must have at least 5 years of work experience, 2 of which providing direct patient care to patients with specific upper extremity injuries. CHT's must pass a national exam and be recertified every 5 years.
