Our speech language pathologists can provide comprehensive diagnostic testing and rehabilitative treatment for communication, voice, memory, and swallowing disorders. They care for individuals of all ages, from newborns to seniors, in two comfortable, convenient locations on the campuses of Beverly Hospital and Addison Gilbert Hospital. We call that The Leading Edge of Caring.
After the initial assessment, the speech language pathologist will work with you and your family to develop a plan of care tailored to your individual needs. Our facilities provide comprehensive diagnostic testing and treatment for children and adults.
Children
We are sensitive to the special needs of children. We specialize in the evaluation and treatment of a variety of childhood developmental delays and of disorders related to premature birth, autism, traumatic brain injury, and intellectual disorders.

Adults
We offer evaluation and treatment of speech, language, voice, memory/cognition and swallowing disorders caused by stroke, traumatic brain injury, head and neck cancer, neurological conditions, and degenerative disease (e.g., Parkinson’s Disease, Muscular Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Dementia).
- Aphasia: expressive and / or receptive language disorder
- Apraxia: motor planning speech disorder
- Cognitive – Linguistic functions: attention, memory, and problem solving
- Dysarthria: imprecise speech
- Oral and pharyngeal dysphagia: difficulty swallowing
- Voice disorders
Modified barium swallow studies
Our speech language pathologists specialize in completion of modified barium swallow studies (MBS) to evaluate the upper digestive tract. Candidates for MBS include those who have experienced any of the following:
- Frequent coughing / choking while consuming food / liquid
- Recent choking episodes resulting in Heimlich maneuver
- Recent pneumonia or severe respiratory infection
- Recent unintentional weight loss
- Reflux / indigestion
- Sensation that something remains in the throat after swallowing
- Reduced appetite, interest or changed attitude towards eating
- Pain or discomfort when swallowing
