Northeast Health System Hires Vice President of External Affairs
Director under former President Bill Clinton joins Beverly and Addison Gilbert hospitals
(Beverly, MA) - Northeast Health System (NHS), parent company of Beverly and Addison Gilbert hospitals, announced the hiring of Charles ‘Chip’ Payson as Vice President of External Affairs. In this position, Chip will oversee community, public and government affairs for NHS. His primary responsibilities will be outreach to elected officials, members of the business community and North Shore residents as well as overseeing community relations and media outreach.
Chip recently held the position of Chief of Staff for Senator Steven Tolman. In his role as Chief of Staff, Chip had significant involvement with elected officials, business leaders, the media and a variety of people in the Senator's constituency and in the Commonwealth. His responsibilities included advice and counsel to the Senator and oversight of all policy, budgetary and media matters.
Prior to working with Senator Tolman, Chip worked on Capital Hill and in the Executive Office of former President Bill Clinton at the White House.

Chip has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Indiana University and a law degree from Suffolk University. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar. Chip and his family reside in Marblehead.
