BEVERLY HOSPITAL ANNOUNCES HOSPITAL WEEK SPONSOR
Owner of Henry’s Market sponsors event for fifth year in a row
(Beverly, MA) - Beverly Hospital announced today that John Keohane, owner of Henry’s Market in North Beverly, will sponsor the annual celebration of Hospital Week, taking place May 7-11, 2007. The celebration will take place at all campuses, including Beverly Hospital, Addison Gilbert Hospital, the Beverly Hospital Hunt Center and BayRidge Hospital.
“I am proud to sponsor Hospital Week, a community celebration of the excellent institutions we are fortunate to have so close to home,” Keohane said. “Community hospitals deserve support and recognition from the thousands of neighbors they serve each year.”
Keohane, who has supported Hospital Week for the past five years, is also a member of Beverly Hospital’s Corporate Leadership Board.
Hospital Week activities kick off at 10 a.m. May 7 with a Children’s Parade at Beverly Hospital. Other activities at the three campuses include barbeques, raffle drawings and ice cream socials.
National Hospital Week is an outgrowth of National Hospital Day, established at the suggestion of a Chicago Magazine editor in the years following the flu pandemic of 1918, in which 600,000 Americans lost their lives. The editor suggested that hospitals open their doors to the public for one day to dispel fears and misconceptions about health care. The first celebration, on May 12, 1921, coincided with Florence Nightingale’s birthday. Former President Nixon created National Hospital Week in 1974.
