Clinical Dietitians Receive Certification
Beverly Hospital Clinical Dietitians Receive Nutrition Support Clinician Certification
Additional Certification Allows for Improved Care of Critical Patients
(Beverly, MA)-The American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN), the interdisciplinary healthcare organization dedicated to improving patient care by advancing the science and practice of nutrition support therapy, recently designated Beverly Hospital clinical dietitians Joyce Mosher and Jennifer Poole as certified nutrition support clinicians (CNSC).
To receive the CNSC certification, Mosher and Poole studied and were tested in extensive material regarding nutrition support therapy, which utilizes feeding tubes and other methods to provide and manage the nutrition of patients who are unable to do so for themselves. The CNSC certification process introduces the safest and best methods to provide nutrition support to patients. Healthcare professionals with this certification are more knowledgeable and up-to-date with current practices and are therefore better able to serve their patients' nutritional needs. In addition, the CNSC certification helps to ensure the safety and well-being of patients, as it provides information about nutrition support methods designed to reduce the risks of infection, pneumonia and other complications that can occur.
Mosher, a Beverly resident, has been an employee at Beverly Hospital and its affiliates for more than 20 years and currently works in the Beverly Hospital Critical Care Unit, which treats acute patients requiring advanced treatment and continuous monitoring. Poole, a resident of Arlington, has been an employee at Beverly Hospital for 10 years. She currently works in Pediatrics and the Special Care Nursery, a state-of-the-art unit providing monitoring and continuous observation for infants requiring specialized care.
