Northeast Health System Holds Annual Meeting Health system, donors and community leaders discuss successes of past year and those to come in 2008
(Danvers, MA)-- On Tuesday, January 8, 2008, Northeast Health System
(NHS) leadership, donors and North Shore community leaders met at the Danversport Yacht Club for the organization’s annual meeting. This event provided for an opportunity to discuss and showcase the numerous achievements of the healthcare system--which includes Beverly, Addison Gilbert and BayRidge hospitals as well as the Beverly Hospital at Danvers Medical and Day Surgery Center and HES, CAB and multiple Senior Services--in the past year and what to expect in 2008.
After a cocktail hour and dinner, speakers including Henry J. Ramini, M.D., outgoing chairman of the NHS Board of Trustees, Stephen R. Laverty, NHS president and CEO, and Jonathan Schreiber, M.D., president of the NHS medical staff, addressed more than 300 attendees in-between award presentations. In addition, the evening included a video depicting the story of a breast cancer survivor and her successful path to wellness using the multidisciplinary collaboration of the health system’s healthcare providers and comprehensive services.
There were many achievements to discuss at the meeting. NHS enters 2008 after the successful completion of its master facilities plan at Beverly Hospital, which included the addition of a patient parking garage with valet services, the renovation of patient care floors, the expansion of the Special Care Nursery, the renovation and expansion of the Hospital’s Emergency Department, an enhanced Cardiovascular program, and most recently the completion of the lobby area giving patients improved access to the Hospital’s surgical and diagnostic services.
In November, NHS celebrated the opening of the Beverly Hospital at Danvers Medical and Day Surgery Center-a regional outpatient care facility custom-designed to provide the North Shore with convenient, accessible, integrated care in a wide range of outpatient services including the latest in breast health and digital mammography, cardiovascular care, pain management, rehabilitation and sports medicine, among others.
"It was a pleasure to recognize the many achievements of our organization at this year’s annual meeting," said Mr. Laverty. "We’ve made great strides in continuing to improve the accessibility and capabilities of the high-quality care that we offer to the North Shore, and plan to continue that forward progression into 2008."
In addition to celebrating the achievements of NHS in 2007, attendees also recognized the achievements of outgoing chair of the NHS Board of Trustees, Henry J. Ramini, M.D. Dr. Ramini used his considerable skills, intelligence and business acumen to help shape and strengthen the organization for continued vitality into the 21st century. He has been associated with Beverly Hospital and NHS for nearly 50 years in a variety of roles beginning as an intern and working his way up to Chief of Obstetrics, President of the Medical Staff, and Vice President of Medical Affairs prior to his most recent position, Chairman of the NHS Board of Trustees.
"What I’ve been able to contribute pales in comparison to what I have gained personally and professionally from this association," said Dr. Ramini during his speech at the annual meeting. "I step down with more gratitude than pride, and look forward to a bright future for this very special organization."
