NSBC Receives Best Practice Designations
NORTH SHORE BIRTH CENTER RECEIVES BEST PRACTICE DESIGNATIONS FROM THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF NURSE-MIDWIVES
(Beverly, MA) - The North Shore Birth Center (NSBC) --one of the childbirth options offered by Beverly Hospital tailored to women who are low-risk and prefer a natural approach to pregnancy and childbirth--was recently awarded a Best Practice designation in two categories by The American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM), a national women's healthcare organization.
Best Practice designations are given yearly by the ACNM as part of their National Benchmarking Project, which compares similar facilities around the country to identify the clinical and operational practices that lead to the best patient outcomes. After being compared nationally with data from practices with an equivalent number of births, for the second year in a row NSBC was awarded a Best Practice designation for having the highest percentage of women breast feeding at six weeks postpartum. In addition, this year NSBC was also recognized with a Best Practice designation for having the lowest pitocin induction rate.
"We are honored to have received the Best Practice designation in not one, but two categories," said Linda Anne L'Abbe, CNM, director of North Shore Birth Center. "The certified nurse midwives and staff here at NSBC are committed to providing our patients with excellent care and we are very proud to be recognized for our efforts."
The North Shore Birth Center, staffed by certified nurse midwives in collaboration with OB/GYN physicians, is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing all aspects of a woman's health. Services, which are available on the campuses of both Beverly and Addison Gilbert hospitals, include yearly physical examinations, maternity care, contraceptive counseling and menopause counseling, among others.
