Northeast Hospital Corporation Holds Luncheon To Honor Volunteers
North Shore residents donate their time to improve the health and well-being of our community
(Danvers, MA) — May 22, 2009 — Northeast Hospital Corporation (NHC) recently held a luncheon at Danversport Yacht Club to honor the many dedicated NHC volunteers at Beverly and Addison Gilbert hospitals and Beverly Hospital at Danvers. The theme of the luncheon, “Volunteers plant the seeds of kindness every day” recognized the many North Shore residents that extend their support of the organization’s mission of quality, caring and community through the donation of their time and individual talents throughout NHC facilities.
The guests of honor started the afternoon luncheon by mingling with the NHC employees who came to show their support and gratitude toward the volunteers. Dr. Henry J. Ramini, president and CEO of NHC, and Jane Karaman, manager of volunteer services at NHC, both took a moment to address the group, thanking them for their priceless contributions toward the health and well-being of our community. Later, attendees had the opportunity to hear from special guest Paul Parent, well-known gardening expert and host of “The Paul Parent Garden Club Show,” a nationally syndicated radio program that shares gardening advice with more than half a million listeners on Sunday mornings.
“Our volunteers are an integral part of our organization and we hold this luncheon every year to let them know that we recognize and appreciate the positive impact they make at our hospitals every day,” said Jane Karaman, manager of volunteer services at NHC. “We are so pleased that Paul was able to join us as a guest speaker this year and share with us his humor and excellent gardening advice; I think it made the event special and exciting for everyone.”
Volunteers contribute in a variety of ways throughout NHC facilities including visiting with patients and accompanying them to different areas of the hospital, helping in the gift shop and providing guidance to hospital visitors.
