Beverly Hospital at Danvers Held
Dedication Ceremony with EBSCO Publishing
(Danvers, MA) - Beverly Hospital at Danvers and EBSCO Publishing
held a special dedication and official ribbon cutting ceremony to
celebrate the new gymnasium in the Lifestyle Management Institute
(LMI). The event, hosted by Northeast Health Foundation - the
non-profit organization which builds philanthropic support for
Northeast Health System -honored EBSCO Publishing for its generous
philanthropic support of Beverly Hospital.
Located within the LMI at Beverly Hospital at Danvers, the EBSCO
Gymnasium provides 23 pieces of equipment, including treadmills,
stair masters, stationary bikes and seated steppers. Amenities also
include free-weights and televisions for viewing during workouts.
The LMI provides coordinated, comprehensive programs for the care
of individuals with, or at risk for, chronic health problems such
as pulmonary disease, diabetes and obesity. Services encompass
prevention, detection, treatment and disease management programs
for patients, families and the community. In addition to patients
of the LMI, the use of the EBSCO Gymnasium is offered as a free
benefit to employees of Beverly Hospital at Danvers as part of the
Wellness Works initiative, which challenges all employees to become
healthier.
"We are very pleased to be able to host this special event to
recognize EBSCO Publishing for their longstanding and generous
support of Beverly Hospital," said Susan Samperi, president of
Northeast Health Foundation. "The EBSCO Gym is part of our Wellness
Works initiative at Northeast Hospitals, providing hospital
employees and members of the community with opportunities to
proactively manage their personal health. We are so grateful for
EBSCO's philanthropic support."
In addition to the dedication of the gymnasium, Beverly Hospital
recognized and celebrated the in-kind donation of several
comprehensive databases from EBSCO Publishing. Staff and physicians
from both the hospital and EBSCO were on hand as part of the
celebration.
"EBSCO provides evidence-based point-of-care information tools
and research databases that enable physicians, nurses and
rehabilitation professionals to make informed decisions about their
patient's health. It is appropriate that the EBSCO Gymnasium will
likewise enable patients and hospital employees to make beter
decisions about and act to manage their health," said Straton
Lloyd, vice president of medical market development and customer
satisfaction.
