Osteoporosis Prevention Program

If you have osteoporosis or are at risk for developing it, our Osteoporosis Risk Reduction Program can make all the difference.

Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones become fragile and can break easily, causing pain and serious disability. It most often affects women after menopause, but men can develop osteoporosis too. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to minimize the impact of osteoporosis on your life.

How Our Risk Reduction Program Works

Lahey's Osteoporosis Risk Reduction Program begins with a comprehensive evaluation by the Risk Reduction Team consisting of nurses, dietitians and other professionals. The results of your evaluation become the basis for your personal risk reduction plan.

Through education and exercise, this program can help you identify and modify your risk factors.  The program meets two times per week for up to six weeks at the Lifestyle Management Institute at the Lahey Outpatient Center in Danvers.

Insurance Coverage

Major health insurance coverage varies. Check with your insurance carrier to insure eligibility for reimbursement.

In addition to helping people at risk for osteoporosis, our Risk Reduction Program also helps support the health of people with diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
