Circulatory

Overview

The vascular system is made up of arteries, veins and the blood they carry to supply oxygen and important nutrients to every part of the body. Any disruption of blood flow has the potential to damage organs such as the heart, the brain and the kidneys. At Beverly Hospital, Addison Gilbert Hospital and Beverly Hospital at Danvers, our team of exceptionally trained and experienced professionals utilize the most advanced technology and techniques available to identify, treat and manage circulation problems. Our services include:

•    Emergency care in the Addison Gilbert Hospital and Beverly Hospital Emergency Departments. Both are designated Primary Stroke Service Hospitals that have a specialized team on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week to immediately evaluate and treat patients who are experiencing acute stroke symptoms. Patients who are experiencing a heart attack have access to immediate evaluation and PTCA (a procedure to unblock a blocked coronary artery), when appropriate, which has been shown to minimize damage to the heart.

•    Comprehensive stroke care through our Stroke Program, that provides preventive care and education, emergent care, rehabilitative services, and follow up care

•    Multidisciplinary and comprehensive cardiovascular services featuring advanced diagnostic and treatment modalities at Addison Gilbert Hospital, the Cardiovascular Center at Beverly Hospital at Danvers, and our state-of-the-art Cardiovascular Suite at Beverly Hospital.

•    Vascular Surgery services for assessment and management of a wide variety of vascular disorders, including problems in the circulation to the brain (carotid artery surgery), kidneys (renal artery surgery), abdominal aorta (aneurysm and obstructive arterial disease, including use of endovascular aortic stent grafts), intestines (mesenteric and celiac arteries), and problems in the circulation of the legs, including those associated with the complications of diabetes mellitus. Vascular surgeons also care for patients who have varicose veins and leg ulcers.

•    An Anticoagulation Management Service that provides education and support for individuals on an anticoagulation regimen.

•    A Cardiac Risk Reduction Program at the Lifestyle Management Institute at Beverly Hospital at Danvers for individuals who have diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, osteopenia or osteoporosis.

•    Blood Pressure Clinics

•    Free Heart Health Risk Assessments
